Flyability’s High-Accuracy Mapping workflow addresses the gap between collecting inspection data and delivering a spatial record an engineering team can use. Moving processing into Inspector Online may simplify that handoff, but it does not make every drone survey accurate enough for every maintenance decision.

One workflow for processing and export

Flyability’s official webinar description, dated October 5, says Elios 3 survey data can be processed in Inspector Online using FARO Insight’s SLAM algorithm, with an online workflow through export. The listed demonstration covers capture, processing and point-cloud delivery. The public description gives no universal error bound or independently checked survey result.

The recording is registration-gated. We have not treated its promotional description as direct observation of the footage or of a completed customer inspection.

Location quality affects the maintenance decision

An image of a suspected defect and a measurement of its position answer different questions. The operator should specify what spatial uncertainty is acceptable for the intended task, and check the deliverable against that requirement. Repeated surveys also need a consistent reference if a team intends to compare change over time.

The workflow’s appeal is less manual movement between tools. That benefit should be tested with the same asset and deliverable requirements used in existing work, including records of processing choices and rejected data.

Processing is not repair authority

A point cloud can help an engineer locate an observation; it does not diagnose every anomaly or approve an intervention. If the online workflow reduces turnaround without losing traceability, it could make inspection evidence easier to use. Watch for an operator-reported acceptance result that links the survey to a real maintenance decision, rather than assuming the word accuracy establishes that link.
